Council is seeking driven, friendly, passionate and confident individuals, who identify as having a disability, to join our team as a Kickstart Disability Trainee. You will gain hands-on experience while completing a fully paid for qualification.

Important eligibility information. 

These roles are designated for individuals who identify as having a disability. To apply for a KickStart Traineeship with Council, individuals must: 

  • Identify as having a disability;
  • You will be required to provide documented evidence of disability if offered a position;
  • Not have a qualification that is equal to or higher than the qualification in the same field as your traineeship or apprenticeship;
  • Be between the ages of 15 and 24 and meet citizen, residency and Visa requirements; and
  • Identify potential areas of interests in their application.

These positions will be for a fixed term, twelve (12) month period, and can be located at any of our major regional centres (Dalby/Chinchilla/Miles/Tara and Wandoan).

Your location and qualification will be finalised dependent on your skills, interest and ability. In one of Council's many internal and external departments for example, Libraries, Parks and Open Spaces, Works, Records Management and Administration teams. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to complete a Nationally Recognised Qualification;
  • Some positions may require a OH&S Construction Induction White Card or Police Check prior to commencement;
  • Sound level of literacy and numeracy skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to work towards and achieve team objectives; and
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining high attention to detail.
