About the Oppportunity

We are seeking 3 enthusiastic casuals to read meters in Dalby and surrounding areas. You will receive on the job training and support from our team who take great pride in delivering quality work and great customer service.  If you love working outdoors in all weather conditions, managing your own work load, are flexible, fit and reliable and enjoy interacting with people, then this job could be for you.

Reporting to the Finance Officer - Water & Gas, you will:

  • Drive an allocated route and walk from property to property, recording water or gas consumption on an electronic device, in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Ensure all dealings with the public are professional and polite and represent Council in a positive manner; and
  • Perform duties efficiently whilst adhering to all safe work instructions as provided during training.

About yourself

The successful applicant will have;

  • A current valid Driver's Licence;
  • Good level of fitness and able to walk long distances for extended periods of time;
  • Carry out assigned tasks autonomously;
  • Strong communication and customer service skills; and
  • Excellent time management skills.

You will also

  • enjoy working outdoors and in all conditions;
  • have a reliable motor vehicle and mobile phone;
  • have a reasonable level of confidence around dogs;
  • be available to work Monday - Friday;
  • be prepared to travel to selected locations to read meters;
  • be willing to complete a pre-employment health questionnaire and police check;
  • be willing to obtain a WHS White Card and Local Government Worker Authorisation; and
  • be ready for an immediate start.
