Coordinator Community Safety and Compliance

Band 8 - $119,380 - $133,491 + super & monthly RDO

About the Role

We seek a proactive leader to manage community safety and compliance functions, including fire prevention, parking enforcement, animal management, and community education. This role oversees staff and contractors, ensuring policies and regulations promote a safe and compliant community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Community Safety and Compliance Unit.
• Ensure compliance in parking control, local law enforcement, fire prevention, and animal management.
• Develop and implement policies, providing strategic advice to senior management.
• Supervise staff and external contractors for effective service delivery.
• Act as the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer (MFPO).
• Oversee enforcement activities, including infringement notices and legal proceedings.
• Manage budgets, business plans, and performance plans.
• Provide expert advice on local law matters.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

About You

• Proven leadership experience in local government or a similar enforcement field.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (Local Government Act, Domestic Animals Act, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, and service delivery.
• Ability to lead and motivate teams.
• Knowledge of emergency management legislation.
• Legal enforcement experience, including issuing infringement notices.
• Victorian Driver’s License required.
