As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will work within Council’s workshop operations, gaining practical experience in maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment. Under the guidance of experienced and qualified mechanics, you will develop essential skills in diagnostics, fault-finding, and routine servicing. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have the expertise to confidently contribute to the maintenance and reliability of Council’s fleet and pursue a career in heavy commercial vehicle mechanics.

• A strong interest in mechanics and a desire to develop hands-on skills in repairing and maintaining heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of experienced mentors.
• Basic computer skills to assist with job tracking and record-keeping.
• Strong organisational and time management skills to balance work responsibilities and study commitments effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate and contribute positively to a team environment.
• Eligibility and willingness to undertake a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, with a commitment to completing all coursework and assessments.
• A proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.
