We're on the lookout for lifeguards to join our team! Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting your career journey, we welcome individuals at all ages to join our dynamic team at one of our seasonal pools in Eildon or Marysville.

Please note that Life Saving Victoria recommends a minimum lifeguarding age of 16 years. However, we are open to considering applications from individuals below this age.

About this opportunity

The Lifeguard is responsible for supervising the safety of patrons in the pool area as well as identifying and responding to potential risks and taking appropriate action to reduce those risks.

Lifeguarding duties, include:

• Keep a watchful eye over the pool, ensuring the safety and well-being of all swimmers and at times enforcing pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
• Be the friendly face of our swimming pool; answer questions, offer poolside recommendations, and make every person feel welcome.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, providing first aid and CPR as needed.
• Work in a team to deliver outstanding service and ensure a smooth operation.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the whole facility including the bathrooms.

What you will bring to the role

By joining our team, you will bring the following/ideally you will have:

• Valid lifeguard certification, including CPR and First Aid training.
• Strong swimming skills and proficiency in water.
• You are self-driven, resourceful, and able to take charge of their work with minimal guidance
• Possess excellent communication skills and a friendly disposition
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.

First Aid and Lifeguard Training

You must hold a valid First Aid Certificate valid until 11 March 2025 for your lifeguard qualification to be accredited. 

Compulsory Council Training dates

• 9 November, Council induction and in-pool skills competency training, Eildon, 9.00 am – 5.00 pm
• 10 November, Marysville Pool Induction, Marysville Pool, 9.00 am – 12.00 noon
• 10 November, Eildon Pool Induction, Eildon Pool, 9.00 am – 12.00 noon
• 10 November, Alexandra Pool Induction, Alexandra Pool, 2.00 – 5.00 pm
• 10 November, Yea Pool Induction, Yea Pool, 2.00 – 5.00 pm

Please note: you will only be required to attend one pool induction and returning staff will only be required to attend the first 1.5 hours of pool inductions on 10 November.

Pool Season

16 November 2024 - 10 March 2025.

• Provides evidence of eligibility to work in Australia.

Is able to travel to different work sites within the Murrindindi Shire, such as providing evidence of a current Victorian Driver’s licence.
