The City of Salisbury is currently seeking to appoint an independent member to its Audit and Risk Committee, which operates within s126 of the Local Government Act 1999. The purpose of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide independent assurance and advice to the Council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management and governance matters. The Audit and Risk Committee operates within the Council adopted Audit and Risk Committee Terms of Reference, which can be found here or on the City of Salisbury website.

We are looking for suitably qualified professionals with relevant skills and experience in risk management, finance and governance, strong communication and relationship management skills and a high level of business acumen. Experience in Local Government financial management and reporting and prior experience in membership of governing bodies or boards will be highly regarded.
The Committee meets a minimum of five times a year, (in February, April, July, October and November) and the term of this appointment is anticipated to start December 2024 with a term to be set by Council resolution. The meetings are held at the City of Salisbury Community Hub and generally commence at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of the relevant meeting month.
Independent members of the Audit and Risk Committee are paid a sitting fee set by Council (currently $500 per meeting attended). Successful applicants are required to provide a current (within the last 6 months), suitable National Police Clearance Certificate.
