Full-time (average of 38 hours per week)

  • A gross salary from $88,929 to 95,469 per annum(depending on skills and experience), access to a City vehicle
  • 11.5% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%

As part of the Parks Services Team, you are responsible for supervising internal work teams and external contractors, ensuring a proactive, high quality and cost effective bushfire mitigation maintenance service is delivered to the community. Demonstrating sound leadership skills and ability to innovate, you will lead your team to meet performance targets and you will support ongoing improvement of the team, participating in employee performance and professional development reviews. 

You will have extensive knowledge of bushfire mitigation practices including mechanical, chemical and hazard reduction burning.  You will have knowledge in development and implementation of bushfire mitigation work program and treatment schedules.  Also significant understanding of the Western Australian Bushfires Act 1954,Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures.

You are a self-motivated go-getter who is able to provide expert advice to the organisation and are comfortable communicating across all levels of the organisation and the community it serves with a qualification in Conservation or Environmental Science and Management and possess a current valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence a must.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria in your application (please limit your response to three pages in total):

  1. Extensive knowledge of bushfire mitigation practices including; mechanical, chemical and hazard reduction burning
  2. Knowledge in development and implementation of bushfire mitigation work programs and treatment schedules
  3. Significant understanding of the Western Australia Bushfires Act 1954, Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the safe use and maintenance of plant and machinery used for fire mitigation and fuel load reduction
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of WHS policies and procedures
  6. Well-developed computer literacy skills and knowledge of relevant computer applications particularly Microsoft suite of products
  7. Strong interpersonal and public relation skills
  8. Significant experience in managing and leading staff, volunteers, contractors and resources to deliver fire mitigation and performance outcomes
  9. Qualification in Conservation Land Management / Environmental Science / Horticulture or demonstrated learned knowledge through substantial experience working within these fields
  10. Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Volunteer Fire fighting training courses inclusive of (or their relative equivalent): Bushfire Fundamentals, Bushfire Safety Awareness, Firefighting Skills
  11. Instruction Induction Training (White Card)
