Council is seeking applications for Casual Compliance Officers to join our Environment and Health Services Team. The Compliance Officer will be required mainly for weekends, public holidays and during Council closures.

Council’s intention is to develop a pool of Casual Compliance Officers so roster sharing can be one weekend each month.

Some of the key tasks to be undertaken in this position will be:

  • Undertake after hour’s response, mainly on weekends and public holidays for priority animal management matters such as dog attacks and stock on road.
  • Assist with managing the operation of Council’s Animal Pound including checking and cleaning the pound once a day on Saturdays and Sundays as well as providing food and water to animals left at the pound on the weekend.
  • Undertake occasional other duties such as patrols on weekends to assist with ongoing issues.
  • Compile notes on job attendance and provide to the Compliance Team.

For this role we are especially interested in hearing from individuals with:

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic experience in handling animals including dogs and cats.
  • Sound customer service skills with the ability to work in high conflict area.
  • Basic understanding, or the ability to acquire an understanding of relevant laws relating to animal management.
  • Possession of a current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence.

The hourly rate is in accordance with the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award - Level 3 $38.55 inclusive of the applicable casual loading.
