Fairfield City Council manages a variety of children and family services, including long day care, preschool, family day care, supported playgroups, early intervention services and family support services. Strong networking opportunities and support exists for educators who work within our services, as do internal opportunities for skills development and career progression across service types. The Fairfield City Best Start Education & Care Unit is strongly committed to providing opportunities for professional development, including a leadership program for emerging directors, study support, including study leave and reimbursement secondments across the services. Comprehensive training plans to suit individuals are also available and consistent support from the Management Team.

Fairfield City Council seeks to employ an enthusiastic Child Care Worker who has a passion for working with children and their families from diverse cultures and backgrounds and who enjoys being challenged and supported through professional development and team environments. You will be working as part of a dynamic team to meet the individual programming needs of children 0-5 years.  

ROLE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Diploma, Associate Diploma in Child Studies or equivalent (2-year full time TAFE)
  • CHCPRT001 Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk and Child Protection Update 2024
  • Current First Aid Certificate, Asthma Certificate, Anaphylaxis Certificate and CPR Certificate, as approved by ACECQA
  • Working with children check
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards and the Education & Care National Regulations 2011
  • Experienced and confident in providing a developmental program and curriculum for children aged between 0 and 6 years with incorporation of the EYLF and NQS

DESIRABLE:

  • Excellent communication skills including skills in managing conflict
  • Proven experience as an effective team player
  • Experience and/or passion in working with children with additional needs and from a culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • 1 x temporary full-time maternity leave position, 38 hours per week
  • 1 x permanent full-time position, 38 hours per week
  • This position is a Grade 3, salary range is $66,443p.a. with progression to $73,338p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $77,831p.a. plus superannuation
  • A uniform is provided
