Create and execute communications and marketing plans to elevate and promote Council

The City of Salisbury is one of the largest and most progressive local government council’s in South Australia, serving a community of over 145,000 residents. The Council is committed to delivering exceptional community outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for its diverse and vibrant community.

The Community Experience team are a newly shaped team, with a new Manager at the helm. They have an ambitious communications and marketing framework they will be rolling out to support key council key priorities such as a new Economic Development Strategy and the $200 million redevelopment of the City Centre.

Your new role

Reporting to the Manager, Community Experience, the Communications and Marketing Advisor will develop and implement effective communications and marketing plans to elevate and promote the City of Salisbury’s Economic Development strategy, related projects, and services. You will provide strategic communications, marketing, and engagement support to the Polaris Business Development Centre and other business areas as required.

In this role, you will coordinate the delivery of communications and marketing strategies, including content creation, collateral development, and the evaluation and analysis of tactics, plans, campaigns, and associated services.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience in a combined communications and marketing role, managing multiple plans and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in coordinating strategic marketing campaigns to meet organisational objectives.
  • Strong writing skills for a range of audiences, with an emphasis on accuracy and developed verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use plain English to distil information and articulate complex concepts clearly to various target audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to identify and meet the needs of key stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ability to influence others and drive positive changes in communication practices and outcomes.
  • Experience in researching, developing, and implementing communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience managing the production of traditional and digital marketing collateral, including publications, internal communications, social media, web content, and promotional materials.
  • Experience in briefing and collaborating with external organisations such as marketing agencies, videographers, photographers, graphic designers, and printers.
  • Knowledge of the principles of effective communication and marketing.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or substantial demonstrated experience.
  • Understanding of communications and marketing in a local government environment.
  • Project management experience, including time management, stakeholder management, issues management, attention to detail, and delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Understanding of legislation related to local government.
  • Experience with a range of digital software solutions, including Microsoft Windows and Adobe Suite.

What you'll get in return

The role is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract with an attractive remuneration package. The role will support the City Shaping team as they develop a new Economic Development Strategy and elevate the Polaris Business Development Centre. This role will be based at Polaris a few days a week, at Mawson Lakes.

Salary

$95,931 - $100,040 per year + superannuation
