THE POSITION:

Fairfield City Council provides a number of high-quality children and family services including long day care, preschool, family day care, supported playgroups, early intervention services and family support. Strong networking opportunities and support exists for staff who work within our services, as do internal opportunities for skills development and career progression across service types. The Children and Family Services Business Unit is strongly committed to providing opportunities for professional development including a leadership program for directors, study support including study leave and reimbursement secondments across the services. Comprehensive training plans to suit individuals are also available, as is consistent support from the Manager.

An exciting career opportunity exists for a passionate and experienced professional to fill the position Co-ordinator, Early Education and Care Services.  The successful candidate is one of 2 Coordinators who oversees and manages the delivery of a number service types, including 5 long day care centres, 4 multipurpose centres, 4 preschools, 1 mobile preschool and 1 Family Day Care Scheme.  This position is responsible for assisting the Centre Directors and Team Leaders in the day-to-day operation of the services,

ESSENTIAL:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or other relevant university qualification
  • Extensive experience in leading a variety of teams within a children’s services environment including but not limited to experience in financial management, quality assurance, strategic planning, recruitment, conflict resolution and policy development
  • Demonstrated commitment to advocating for excellence in the delivery of early education and care programs for children and families
  • Demonstrated ability in and commitment to the professional development of teams and individuals
  • Currency in knowledge in the children and family services sector, understanding of government policy and funding environment
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 8, salary range is $111,164 p.a. with progression to $122,704 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $130,215 p.a.
  • Flexible working hours are available.
