Governance Officer - Audit & Risk

experienced Governance Officer – Audit
and Risk to support our organisational
integrity and compliance standards.
The Governance Officer – Audit and Risk
plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the
City of Karratha complies with statutory
obligations, internal policies, and best
practices across all areas. This critical
position offers an opportunity to shape
and enhance governance processes
within our organisation.
As a Governance Officer, you will focus
on risk management, internal audits, and
investigations, playing a key part in the
City’s ongoing commitment to
governance excellence.

• Internal Audits & Investigations
• Governance & Compliance Reporting
The successful candidate will possess:
• Strong understanding of risk management and
internal audit principles.
• Familiarity with Local Government legislation,
regulations, and compliance obligations.
• Proficiency in risk management tools and systems.
• Ability to interpret and apply Commonwealth and
State legislation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills,
with the ability to effectively liaise across all levels.
• Demonstrated customer service, conflict resolution,
and negotiation skills.
• Degree (or progress towards) in Law, Business, or
related field, or equivalent experience in risk
management and internal audit
• Experience in local government audit, risk
management, or corporate governance is highly
desirable.
• A National (or Federal) Police Certificate (no more
than 6 months old)
