Our Key Venues section oversees all of our aquatic and leisure centres. We deliver first-class activity and program choice, promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and leisure, and give every visitor and customer a safe and memorable experience. Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope (BLCS) is an award winning multi-purpose facility that offers high-quality programs and services. It includes an indoor aquatic centre with 25 metre 10-lane lap pool, wave pool, program pool, a 4-court stadium and 16 plexicushion tennis courts, as well as a health and fitness centre, crèche and function room facilities.

Blacktown Aquatic Centre offers aquatic and recreational facilities, as well as innovative programs to meet the needs of a fast-growing and diverse community. The centre boasts an indoor and outdoor 50m heated pool, heated toddler pool, large outdoor grassed areas, skate ramps, café, health and fitness services including a gymnasium, fitness studio and crèche.

We are looking for experienced and motivated individuals who have a passion for health and fitness to join the Key Venues team as Casual Fitness Consultants.

Position purpose:

The role includes: 

  • Providing excellent customer service to current, and prospective members at Blacktown Aquatic Centre and/or BLCS
  • Successfully providing professional and accurate information to customers
  • Implementing the Fitness Centre and Group Fitness Studio activities, programs and competitions to attract the maximum participation level.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in related field (minimum Certificate III in Fitness)
  • Registered Fitness Leader (AUSactive, Fitrec, Physical Activity Australia or equivalent)
  • Current CPR
  • Current First Aid
  • Be a team player
  • Responsible for maintaining own accreditation
  • Experience and capability in the operation and management of health and fitness assets and resources associated with the provision of recreation facilities, programmes and events
  • Experience in a leisure environment working to strict parameters to achieve pre-set targets
  • Experience working both within a team environment and as a ‘self-starter’
  • Experience of working to strict targets and deadlines
  • Experience of working with schools, corporate groups, sporting clubs and/or associations
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $31.9550 per hour plus 25% casual loading
  • Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
  • Casual working hours
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
