Your New Career

Council’s Community Health and Development team is responsible for leading the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of best practice health promotion, community development and social equity programs and policies.

The Health and Wellbeing Advisor leads the development, delivery and evaluation of Council’s Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and contributes vitally important activities and strategies towards Council’s purpose of a thriving community and environment.

What you will bring to the Role

We are currently looking for a Health and Wellbeing Advisor who is a compassionate and dedicated person and is driven to making a positive impact on the lives of our local community members and their families.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • an excellent understanding of social equity and the ability to apply an equity lens to your work
  • fantastic interpersonal skills and experience in working with a variety to partners and stakeholders, including the community, to create collective impact.
  • experience in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health plans, policies and activities.

Key Selection Criteria

Mandatory Qualifications, Experience and Requirements

  • Qualification Check - Tertiary qualification and/or at least three years' experience in Public Health or related field
  • A current Working With Children Check
  • Experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of health and wellbeing programs.
  • Experience developing strong relationships with a range of stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
  • Experience in applying a social equity and/or community development lens to health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively plan, manage and prioritise own work with minimum supervision.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Occasional out of hours work may be required.
  • You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
  • Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council).
    A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a local government setting.
