The primary purpose of the role is to provide a high level of service in the maintenance of public facilities, town centres and recreational space in line with Council’s delivery and operational plans.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Effectively maintain council parks, town centres, open spaces and public facilities to the highest possible standard. Utilising an assortment of commercial machinery & plant, to deliver mowing, whipper-snipping, weeding, trimming, planting, watering, maintenance of irrigation systems and other horticulture works
  • Complete precise documentation as required, ensuring compliance with requirements, legislation and obligations
  • Assist in the recording of parks and gardens asset maintenance requirements, servicing levels and inspections conducted by Council
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to trainees or assistants in the areas of horticulture, open spaces and parks & gardens
  • Develop maintenance programs and plans for the care, refurbishment and rejuvenation of Council’s gardens and horticultural assets
  • Provide expert advice in relation to horticultural enquiries
  • Initiate and encourage innovative work practices and procedures whilst maximising utilisation of resources
  • Use and maintain small plant and hand tools in a safe and effective manner
  • Champion a safety culture within the team to ensure a safe work place for our people by monitoring compliance with policies, procedures, legislation, specifications, projects plans and any other documentation required for the successful delivery of capital and maintenance works

About You

We are looking for a team player with an eye for detail. You are - 

  • A reliable and dedicated individual who can offer a high level of service in the maintenance of public facilities, town centres and recreational space in line with Council's delivery and operational plans
  • Someone with a can-do attitude that will contribute to a positive safety culture to ensure a safe workplace for our people and the community
  •  Flexible, adaptable and responsive to change

We are seeking someone who has or is willing to obtain:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent OR a minimum of 3 years experience in a related environment
  • Class C Driver Licence
  • Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
  • Approved certificate for Chemical User Applications

About the Role 

Full time: 76-hour fortnight

Salary: Range from $58,151 to $66,872 pa + 11.5% super
