Council has an exciting opportunity for multiple Infrastructure Maintenance Officers to join our Operations & Maintenance team. The Roads and Parks Team is responsible for undertaking maintenance to Council’s open space and road related infrastructure and these roles will play an important part in general maintenance.

About this opportunity

We’re looking for self-motivated people to be a part of our Roads and Parks Team. The Infrastructure Maintenance Officer roles will report to the Team Leader Sealed Roads and will focus on general sealed road maintenance, requiring experience and skills in the operation of road maintenance related plant and equipment and maintaining Council’s timber bridges and completing minor road and culvert repairs.

The key position objectives are to:

  • Strengthen Murrindindi Shire Council management, control and delivery of high-quality bridge and general road maintenance activities.
  • Provide specialist plant operating skills, which complement and enhance the existing operations.
  • Contribute to the development of an efficient and flexible team to deliver the objectives of Council’s clients.
  • Undertake the safe and proper operation, including routine maintenance, of plant including tandem tip trucks, tray trucks and backhoe, loaders, crane trucks, plant and equipment (e.g grader, rollers, tractors etc).
  • Prepare estimates of resource requirements (i.e. labour, plant, materials and time) for various works as required.
  • Depending on the position, undertake road and bridge works (new and repairs) including timber re-decking, handrail maintenance, pile and substructure repairs, road and culvert maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain appropriate Council records in relation to work such as entering and closing off Work Orders in Council’s Asset Management System (Assetic) via mobile device (phone, iPad or similar).

We are proposing that interviews will take place in November 2024 and the successful applicants with commence in January 2025 following the Christmas / New Year period.

What you will bring

In this role we are seeking someone who has demonstrated experience in:

  • operation of road maintenance related plant, equipment and tools including chainsaws, pole saws, brush cutters, blowers and other items of small plant.
  • developing work schedules in an autonomous manner and prioritising works for self and small teams.
  • delivery of construction and maintenance of small to medium size projects/works.
  • capacity to provide accurate resource estimates.
  • maintaining records in support of OH&S, quality assurance, environmental accreditation and other requirements.
  • using computers including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; and
  • availability to participate in Council's after-hours callout roster.
