Full Time Fixed Term Position - 2 Year Contract

Band 7 - Salary Range $106,626 to $119,182 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

The Opportunity

At the Melton City Council, we strive to create a vibrant and liveable city accessible to all.  The Information Technology department contributes to this vision by transforming Melton City Council service delivery to achieve operational excellence, build community trust and enhance citizen experience when engaging with council services.

As the IT Service Management Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Council’s adherence to ITIL frameworks and processes. You will be responsible for managing major incidents, changes, and problems to minimise service disruptions, ensure timely IT issue resolution, and enhance overall service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage major incidents, ensuring prompt resolution and effective communication with stakeholders. Conduct post-incident reviews to implement corrective actions.
  • Review, assess, and facilitate change requests, ensuring minimal disruption to services. Lead Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and monitor change implementations.
  • Identify root causes of recurring incidents and implement strategies to prevent their recurrence. Maintain and track a problem management database.
  • Ensure adherence to the ITIL framework and internal policies and maintain & audit process documentation. Build strong relationships with IT teams, business units, and external vendors through clear communication and collaboration.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance IT service delivery. Prepare regular reports on ITIL process performance.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications with several years of subsequent relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
  • Foundation level certificate in ITIL.
  • Proven track record of managing and resolving major incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing effective changes in IT environments. Familiarity with incident and change management tools and platforms.
  • Proficiency in ITIL framework and related processes, including incident management, problem management, and change management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve IT service delivery.
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and guide teams during incident response and change implementation.
