Role Overview

The Manager Fleet, & Depot Operations is responsible for leading and managing fleet assets and workshop operations. The position provides high-quality specialist advice to internal customers, aligning with financial sustainability metrics, relevant industry benchmarks, and best practices. Key responsibilities include coordinating comprehensive fleet services, managing fleet assets, and overseeing depot operations. 

Essential Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Extensive experience in fleet management, workshop operations or related fields
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and coordinating operations.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to develop long term plans and align them with operational goals.
  • Technical knowledge of fleet management systems, asset maintenance and workshop operations
  • Demonstrated communication skills to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders, team members and external parties.
  • Proven track record in problem solving with the ability to address operational problems and implement solutions.
  • Financial acumen in managing budgets, cost control and financial sustainability.
  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Responsible for the delivery of contemporary and customer focused fleet services to successfully support the safe, efficient and effective delivery of Council operations.
  • Develop, maintain and implement a Fleet Asset Management plan that supports Council’s operational requirements.
  • Develop and deliver an annual fleet procurement and disposal program, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including worker consultation.
  • Ensure the undertaking of maintenance, repairs to enable effective and efficient delivery of Council's operational activities.
  • Monitor and report on vehicle utilisation providing recommendations on optimisation and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Implement and manage a fuel management system that meets user requirements and ensures effective accounting fuel purchases and consumption.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities including the establishment of pre-qualified contractor panels to assist in the efficient delivery of maintenance programs, materials and wet and dry hire plant.
  • Manage all logist8ics functions to best support Council’s operational activities.
  • Manage Council’s Chain of Responsibility obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law.
  • Collaborate with Depot stakeholders to ensure cohesive operations.
  • Manage day to day activities, safety and site assets of Council Depots
  • Provide leadership to the Fleet, Workshop and Logistics Teams
