The role
Our Park Operations, Open Space & Cemeteries team have an exciting full-time opportunity for an Open Space Operations Officer. This position will oversee contract works on maintenance of public parks, reserves, sports fields, cemeteries, and amenities. In this hybrid role, you'll spend part of your time out in the field conducting risk assessments, maintenance inspections, and ensuring contract works are completed to a high standard. You will also be spending time working indoors managing procurement, contracts, and the administration of ongoing projects.
The ideal candidate will have trade qualifications in Parks or Horticulture, along with experience in contracts and procurement. You will need to demonstrate strong administrative skills and an ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. We’re looking for someone with excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to build strong working relationships with contractors and team members, and a solid understanding of both the practical and administrative aspects of open space maintenance activities. Risk management and compliance will be key areas of focus, so a background in these areas is essential.

The package
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You will also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time 35 hours per week.
