The Opportunity

The Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Coordinator to join our Field Services team in beautiful Wangaratta. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support a dedicated team across a variety of essential services, including Roads and Drainage Maintenance, Horticulture, Cemetery Services, Plant and Fleet Management, and Depot Services. 

As the Operations Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient delivery of services to our community, overseeing day-to-day operations, developing and implementing policies, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. You will be responsible for leading teams to achieve operational excellence and fostering a positive, cohesive work environment. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and coordinate Field Services operations across multiple functional areas, ensuring high-quality service delivery to the community.
  • Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures to improve service outcomes.
  • Manage budgets and financial performance, ensuring effective use of resources and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members, driving performance and professional development.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align operational goals with broader community and council priorities.

What We’re Looking For:

To succeed in this role, you’ll have a relevant tertiary education and substantial experience in business or operations management, along with strong budgeting, contract management, and leadership skills. Effective communication abilities and a current driver’s license are also essential. This position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact within a supportive and progressive community.
