The Council has a new state of the art Civic and Community Enterprise Centre as its regional office and a growing tourism industry which offers a wide choice of attractions and activities including the $12millon mineral-rich artesian Cunnamulla Hot Springs, Cunnamulla Fella and Historical Railway.
Located in Southwest Queensland, the Paroo Shire Council covers an area of 47,623 square kilometres with Cunnamulla being the hub of the Shire incorporating four beautiful rural towns, Cunnamulla, Yowah, Eulo and Wyandra and a growing tourism industry. Its unique name Cunnamulla, means ‘long stretch of water’, as the town sits on the edge of the picturesque Warrego River, a popular spot for boating, water sports, hot springs and fishing.
About the Position
If you are keen to live and work in a rural Australian community and you have a passion for solving complex and challenging plumbing maintenance and repairs and where you will be able to use your expert plumbing skills and/or enhance your skills, then this position will be the plumb job for you.
The Senior Plumber and Plumber are responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing water, wastewater and storm water constructions using strong technical and trade skills in a customer service focused environment. You will enjoy a diverse range of maintenance and repairs as no two days will be the same.
You will be part of a team where you will assist with the operations and maintenance of Water and Wastewater Treatments Plants and the management of reticulation and maintenance operations. Your knowledge of all things water will include assisting with the maintenance of the community swimming pool where your technical advice will be recognised and appreciated.
About You
You will be a qualified plumber and will be excited by the opportunity to step into a role that you can call your own and be able to respond quickly to challenges by being flexible and adaptable. You will enjoy providing solutions to a team and assist in building our strong workplace culture driving Council’s performance and service delivery.
About Your Experience
You will have a trade qualification in Plumbing and Drainage. As the Senior Plumber you will also require a QBCC Plumbing and Drainage licence and a backflow prevention accreditation or have the ability to acquire these.
It would be great if you had a ‘HR’ Class Queensland Drivers Licence, other relevant trade qualifications e.g. restricted electrical, solar and heat pump or a First Aid and Confined Space Entry Certificate, however this is not essential, although you will need a current ‘C’ Class Queensland Drivers Licence as an essential requirement for this position.
