Join Our Team as a Pool Lifeguard

Are you passionate about water safety and love working in an aquatic environment? Banyule are looking for dedicated Pool Lifeguards to work at our Ivanhoe Aquatic and the Olympic Leisure Centers. These vital positions help to ensure our pools remain safe, clean, and enjoyable for all visitors.

You’ll be working in a fun, supportive, and professional team environment where you will be making a difference by keeping our community safe in the water.

You’ll:

  • Supervise the pool environment and ensure the participants in the aquatic spaces act in a responsible and safe manner
  • Undertake supervision, rescues and emergency intervention in accordance with industry standards, policy guidelines and accepted practice
  • Develop and maintain a professional and friendly relationship with all aquatic program participants and parents
  • Record and report all incidents and accidents that take place in any of the aquatic facilities to the Aquatics Coordinator

What you’ll bring/what we are looking for:

  • A practical knowledge of pool supervision, water safety, water education, first aid, resuscitation, rescue techniques and public safety requirements -Prior Experience in a Lifeguarding position/ Surf Lifesaving Is highly regarded.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • A strong customer service orientation in dealings with patrons, members and residents.
  • Sound liaison skills in dealings with aquatic facility staff, Council staff and management.
  • Experience in pool supervision is desirable
  • Current Defibrillation Certificate is desirable

  • Salary range $67,238.09- $70,699.31 for full time ($34.02 to $35.77 per hour)
  • Work location and shifts available at Ivanhoe Aquatic or Olympic Leisure Centre
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/2 weeks of paid parental leave - partner
  • Consistency in shifts, working on a permanent part time basis

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • CPR certificate
  • Current RLSS / Life Saving Victoria Pool Lifeguard certificate.
  • Current Level 2 First Aid

Pre employment checks:

  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police checks)
  • Pre-Employment Medical Check
  • Working with children check
