Senior Producer Creative Partnerships

Ballarat is home to some of Australia’s most historically significant cultural venues including Her Majesty’s Theatre, Civic Hall and the Mining Exchange. City of Ballarat’s freshly formed Cultural Venues team is embarking on exciting period of change and growth. In late 2024, Victoria’s oldest theatre is re-opening for its 150th anniversary after multiple stages of revitalisation, Civic Hall is returning to its live music touring roots and the Mining Exchange is being re-imagined for the future as a destination for art, performance, design, food, wine and more. 

The Role:

We are looking for a strategically minded specialist with national networks and an ability to read trends to play a senior role in pro-actively developing commercial touring and creative partnerships across the three iconic venues. This critical role will be focused on driving major national live music and comedy touring partnerships across the venues, with a key opportunity in shaping the reboot of Civic Hall Ballarat as regional Victoria’s premier live music venue. The role will also be responsible for developing partnerships for a diverse range of creative and lifestyle experiences at the Mining Exchange.  

This is an opportunity for a visionary operator who has worked in programming or booking roles in these commercial artforms ideally with prominent venues or festivals. You will also have the experience and talent to curate live music and comedy experiences to complement touring product in line with the Cultural Venues annual program plan. 

This challenging and rewarding role will work cooperatively across the Economy and Experience Division and national arts and live entertainment sector to support the creation of unforgettable experiences for locals and visitors to the Ballarat region.

Key Selection Criteria: 

• Tertiary qualification in arts management, business management, event management or related field in cultural/live entertainment venues, major festivals or related industry or lesser qualification and relevant experience commensurate with skills and requirements required for the position.
• Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote corporate values.
• Relevant experience in a contemporary live music, comedy or creative/cultural events programming and/or booking role within a venues-based or festivals context, including curation.
• Experience with budget management and other relevant financial procedures.
• Experience in end-to-end event management and/or creative program delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to work pro-actively and collaboratively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
• Experience in providing exceptional client service with a relational focus and continuous improvement mind-set.
