About the role

This is a full-time, senior role in our small Strategy and Place Team based in Moruya. The Senior Strategic Planner will deliver high quality integrated strategic land use and policy planning advice and services, in addition to advising Council on strategic urban and rural planning matters and their environmental, economic and social implications.

This position will lead cross-organisational teams preparing masterplans for the Shire’s towns and villages, implement a Local Housing Strategy and Biodiversity Strategy as well as preparing and reviewing Planning Proposals and Contributions Plans. It will also play a role within Council’s economic development, tourism, advocacy and key infrastructure projects. Your main duties will include:

  • Lead, coordinate and manage the delivery of key strategic planning projects and policies.
  • Collaborate with other areas of Council, Government authorities, developers and community to review planning proposals and associated infrastructure plans and achieve sustainable strategic goals.
  • Provide concise written and verbal specialist/technical advice and expertise in relation to the development and delivery of the Shire’s strategic projects and formulate recommendations and solutions for Council.
  • Work collaboratively with Government, across teams and the community based upon strong engagement frameworks and plans.
  • Respond to enquiries and ensure all information provided is researched, correct, factual, timely, customer focused and in accordance with relevant guidelines, legislation and standards.

Salary Information

Total remuneration for the role is in the range of $106,899.01 to $134,306.70 gross per annum comprising:

  • $95,873.55 to $120,454.44 base salary
  • $11,025.46 to $13,852.26 superannuation (calculated at 11.5%)

A fully maintained Council leaseback vehicle (including full private usage) is also available with this position!
