Role Overview

This position will be required to undertake electrical duties on Council infrastructure which includes but is not limited to commercial and industrial electrical work on buildings and facilities, as well as associated equipment to ensure the provision of efficient and effective services to Gympie Regional Council.

Essential Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Demonstrated ability to allocate workflows and resources to cahieve work program objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience is essential (local government expirence preferred but not essential).
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with relevant Electrical Safety Acts and Electrical Safety Regulations.
  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained
  • Electrical Trade Qualifications (such as Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician QLD)
  • General construction induction (white/blue card)
  • Low Voltage Rescue Qualification
  • Electrical Work License (QLD)

Essential Requirements: 

  • Undertake a broad range of electrical tasks generally related to Council’s water and wastewater infrastructure as well as its buildings and facilities. Work includes risk assessments, new installations, fault finding, maintenance and repairs of electrical systems.
  • Develop an understanding and documentation of Council electrical asset network.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors performing major works
  • Liaise and communicate with Council staff and members of the community.
  • Participate in on the job or trade related training as appropriate.
  • Undertake allocated tasks effectively and efficiently within established time objectives as required and directed.
  • Comply with reasonable and lawful directives given in the workplace and undertake any other duties associated with the role, as reasonably directed and within the scope of the requirements of the role.
