Are you mechanically minded? Looking for a different career? We are looking for a Sweeper Operator to join our operational area. We are looking for reliable, dependable, and flexible individuals to join our efficient, and industrious team of operators that regularly clean our roads and streets in the Blue Mountains to keep them safe and reduce the amount of waste that flows into our storm drains. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, a willingness to follow instructions, a team player, proven experience in the operation of mechanical sweeping or a willingness to obtain.

The key focus of this position is to perform Council’s mechanical sweeping program to maintain the Blue Mountains streets and town centres to address road asset, storm water run-off, aesthetic, and water quality issues.

The Street Sweeper Operator will primarily be responsible for the operation and general maintenance of Council's Street Sweeping plant in accordance with operating procedures and service delivery requirements.

We are seeking candidates that take pride in their work, have a positive attitude, are punctual, reliable, hardworking, and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The candidate will bring the following to the role:

•    Class MR Driver’s license.
•    Must hold WH & S construction Induction Card (White Card)
•    Sound communication skills, both written and oral.
•    Ability to operate Street Sweeping Machine with demonstrated skill.
•    Ability to carry out basic machine checks and maintenance and be physically capable of performing heavy manual tasks.
•    Proven ability to follow directions and carry out tasks with limited supervision.
•    Ability to collect and electronically record information, using Council’s information.
•    technology.
•    Ability to work in a team environment and on rotating shifts as required.

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $59,414 gross per annum
  + adverse working conditions of $2,500 gross per annum
 + Street Sweeper allowance
  + First Aid Allowance
 + 11.5% superannuation 
 + performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary 
 + annual award increase
