If you are looking to take on new challenges and contribute to Cook Shire Council , then we would love to hear from you!

Location:

The Cook Shire Council Local Government Area encompasses an approximate area over 100,000km2 and within this vast land mass area, Cook Shire's unsealed road network extends to a combined length greater than 2,300km.

Due to the geographical location and distinct weather conditions this vast unsealed road infrastructure network experiences significant damage on a recurring annual basis.

Cook Shire Council, with their disproportionate rate base to asset maintenance requirements, relies heavily on DRFA funding to restore their essential public infrastructure following the impacts of natural disasters and provide a level service to landowners, businesses and to generate tourism for the region.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Superintendent, Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA) Works who is passionate about local government; the community; and remote works.

Seeking a highly motivated individual who has exceptional leadership and communication skills together with strong values and a sound knowledge and understanding of DRFA programs, processes and procedures, including construction and maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads and associated drainage.

Reporting to the Manager, DRFA Works, this role will provide critical support, coordination and oversight of Council's DRFA works; manage and maintain Council's gravel pits and water resources including permits and approvals; and support Council's WHS Manager to deliver safe and compliant outcomes for Council when engaging with DRFA Contractors.

This role will continue to build on the existing culture of continuous improvement and demonstrate a commitment for the Cook Shire area and surrounding communities, its people and the future.

Employee benefits including an attractive remuneration and a positive and friendly working environment.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a significant difference within our local communities.
