Role Overview

The Supervisor Logistics plays a pivotal role in supporting all operational areas of Council in the planning, coordination and allocation of resources including plant, operators, materials, quarries and pits. The role supports the Manager Operations Roads and Drainage in providing a complete logistics function to support the whole of Council and maximise the efficiency of these assets through effective planning and processes and supports the appointed Site Senior Executive (SSE) in ensuring all safety, environmental and legislative requirements are met in Councils Quarries and Pits.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

• Extensive experience in the management of plant and materials used in the civil construction industry.
• Experience in the production and transport of materials, including programming and scheduling.
• Demonstrated ability in leadership and management of teams.
• Demonstrated experience of working in a team environment, and autonomously to achieve the best outcomes.
• Intermediate computer literacy and experience in using handheld computer devices.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, keen attention to detail and advanced planning and organisation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and foster a customer service culture.
• Knowledge of contract management, plant hire, procurement and probity.
• Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
• Construction Industry White/Blue card.

Essential Requirements: 

• Coordinate and lead the logistics team operators in day-to-day operations.
• To coordinate internal and external plant to maximise utilisation and productivity, to monitor and report on utilisation.
• To coordinate internal and external plant and material requirements.
• To coordinate and monitor Council gravel material sources (internal and external).
• To manage the contractual arrangements for hired plant.
• To ensure fleet and plant are refuelled as required in accordance with contractual and operational requirements.
• Investigate and report on incidents related to the activities of the unit and preparation of reports for internal and external plant.
• Analyse costs,utilisation, productivities, current market rates and trends to achieve best financial outcomes for Council.
• Report on key deliverables for the team as directed.
• Manage the team’s activities in line with Legislation, Council’s Policies, and Procedures to mitigate non-compliances.
• Provide technical support with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, risk management, environmental maintenance and continuous improvement, in a business focused environment.
• Liaise closely with all areas of the Council in delivering a responsive service that satisfies Gympie Regional Council’s Customer Service Standards.
• Exercising sound judgement, initiative and confidentiality including an ongoing review of business systems and processes within the unit as part of a continuous improvement process
• Foster a positive relationship with all key stakeholders.
• Support and promote a positive and cooperative team environment, which fosters creative problem solving and shared learning.
• Maintain a positive organisational image, which promotes good customer relations and maximises the provision of a high level of service to enhance customer experience

Desirable Requirements:

• Driver Licence Class Heavy-Combination (HC) or above that is current and maintained.
• RIIMPO321D - Wheeled front end loader Competency/Ticket
