Permanent Full-time, 35-hour week 19 day month

Salary Range from $109,450.12 - $127,198,76 + 11.5% Superannuation per annum.

The Opportunity

To lead the financial accounting function of Council by taking responsibility for taxation compliance with a focus on Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Goods & Services Tax (GST) and accounting for assets in accordance relevant accounting standards.

This position will also lead the financial accounting team to deliver financial business process improvements and is also required to be the financial administrator of Council’s financial system.

Essential Criteria

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Business (Accounting Major).
  2. Demonstrated work experience in a finance / accounts working environment with experience in complex reconciliations and completion of financial reports.
  3. Strong spreadsheet and database skills within the Microsoft Office Environment.
  4. Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  5. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. High attention to detail and ability to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently and to deadlines.
  7. Demonstrated experience with Asset Registers and practical knowledge of accounting standards relating to assets, particularly AASB 116.
  8. Demonstrated experience with Taxation Law as it relates to GST and FBT, and completion of BAS returns
