About the role

The job entails working within the Sport and Recreation Unit, where you'll be part of a team responsible for maintaining and renovating Hobart's sporting facilities and high-profile parks. Your duties would include a broad range of tasks such as regular maintenance, renovations, equipment repairs, and ensuring the safety and functionality of facilities. Strong teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and physical fitness are essential for this role. You'll need to coordinate with stakeholders and keep accurate records of maintenance activities. Overall, the job involves diverse skills and responsibilities centred around maintaining and enhancing Hobart's sports facilities and parks.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Carrying out work programs related to the maintenance of Turf areas.
  • Efficient use of plant, equipment and resources.
  • Completion of relevant documentation.
  • Attendance and participation at team meetings.
  • Prioritising WHS legislation and regulations, ensuring compliance with safe work practices.

About you

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in turf management, particularly in developing and maintaining sports fields. They must also possess a solid understanding of irrigation system design, installation, and maintenance, as well as proficiency in using turf-related machinery and attachments.

A current MR Licence is required, along with a Certificate III in Horticulture. Additionally, candidates must have a Construction Industry White Card and obtain Registration to Work with Vulnerable People before starting.
