About the Opportunity

Operating within the Utilities department, you will lead a team of project, maintenance and technical officers to deliver the Utilities capital works and maintenance program across the Western Downs Region. 

This position can be based at any of our major regional centres (Dalby/Chinchilla/Tara/Miles and Wandoan).

You will be:

  • Working with the Utilities Manager to develop and deliver the Utilities (water, sewerage and gas) Capital and Maintenance Program within budget and on schedule;
  • Managing the development of appropriate strategic direction and planning for the Utilities Capital and Maintenance Program consistent with achieving the outcomes contained in Council's Corporate, Division and Operational Plans;
  • Overseeing the delivery of various capital, operational and maintenance projects and activities to ensure a high level of performance in relation to time, cost and quality.
  • Identifying and managing risks associated with the Utilities Capital and Maintenance Program, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.

This role is full time, working 38 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO.

About yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a Bachelor of Engineering in a related field, ORbe able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have;

  • Current C Class Drivers License
  • OH&S Construction White Card
  • Industry qualification in production planning and or project management desired

Salary Packaging Available

Leave Loading

You will receive 17.5% leave loading on top of your base rate of pay, while you are on Annual Leave.

  • On Call Allowance - applicable on call allowances as per Award
  • Locality Allowance - Dependent on location and dependants
  • Utilities Operations Retention Payment - $1,500.00 (conditions apply)
