Join our versatile Waste Management team at the Second Hand Shop and help reduce waste while supporting our community

As a Second Hand Shop Attendant, you will play a vital role in assisting the Armidale community with essential waste services while delivering excellent customer service. Your responsibilities will include accepting and sorting items dropped off by the public for resale in our second-hand store, assisting customers with their donations, and providing information about our recycling and resale processes.

Working with the team, you will organize and maintain the inventory of second-hand goods, ensuring the drop-off area and store are kept clean and safe for both staff and customers. Your tasks will include Point of Sale operations, issuing of receipts, and record-keeping activities, consistent pricing of goods as per provided guidelines, and keeping the Second Hand Goods Shop tidy and presentable at all times. You will work to ensure smooth operations and a positive customer experience.

There is also the opportunity to gain experience in other areas of the waste management facility.

About You

In this role, you will demonstrate the ability to think on your feet and make proactive, independent decisions.

Occasionally operating unsupervised, you will need to work independently to solve any problems that may arise.

Your excellent customer service skills will be showcased as you work efficiently within a team, ensuring effective interpersonal and communication skills with those you interact with.

Safety is paramount throughout the waste management facility, where adherence to safety protocols is crucial.

You will come to work with a 'can do' attitude and a preparedness to 'walk the talk'. Your dedication to safety and teamwork will play a crucial role in fostering a productive and safe working environment.
