THE POSITION

This position requires a high level of interpersonal skills to assist in ensuring the strategic direction of Council is followed. It demands a high amount of autonomy for decision making and consideration of overall quality control of work, budget, schedule, plans, and performance.

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for managing Council’s fleet maintenance, workshop facilities and associated assets, manage workshop staff ensuring Council’s Human Resources policies, procedures and practices are appropriately implemented, oversee records, logbooks, manuals and detailed service logs for all plant and equipment, regular fuel & oils testing and reporting, implement Council’s administrative procedures, including purchasing and budgeting and any other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Roads Manager within the skill set of the incumbent.

ABOUT YOU:

As the successful applicant you must demonstrate previous experience in supervising fleet (plant & equipment) and workshop facilities to provide a high level of support to your department, while achieving fleet utilisation and revenue targets. There is a requirement to have qualifications in heavy earthmoving mechanic and/or diesel fitter, demostrate sound knowledge of budget allocations and have considerable experience in job costing control and cost forecasting.
