About the Role

The City of Greater Dandenong is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Arborist to join our Parks team. If you’re passionate about Trees, the Environment and playing a key role in protecting and enhancing Greater Dandenong’s tree canopy then this is the role for you.

Reporting to the Senior Arborist, you will provide expert advice on a range of tree matters, working to protect, grow and diversify Council’s urban forest in line with our Uban Tree Strategy Greening Our City 2018 – 2028.

Your strong interpersonal skills, customer service focus and technical arboriculture knowledge will be key to your success in this dynamic, reactive and fast-paced role. With an emphasis on reactive and proactive tree inspections, resident consultation, contract management and support, OHS monitoring and auditing, quality auditing, and streetscape renewals.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reactive and proactive tree inspections and subsequent consultation and work allocation.
• Monitor and administer in conjunction with Senior Arborist, programming of a quality and safety audits.
• Regular consultation with residents applying various methods of communication including, written communication, telephone and face to face communication.

About You

To be considered for the role, you will need:

• Formal qualification in Arboriculture, National accreditation - AQF level 5, or equivalent.
• Certificate 2 in ESI Power line Management and demonstrated knowledge of arboriculture principals and technical applications;
• Extensive knowledge and experience of Visual Tree Assessment, identification of potential risk including tree management principles and practices;
• Experience and ability to effectively manage staff and contractors’ performance and workloads, with a commitment to quality services and teamwork.
• Demonstrated experience in current arboriculture maintenance techniques and industry best practice contract management and an understanding of relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to Electricity Safety (Electric Line Clearance) Regulations and Road Management Act and Code of Practice

Mandatory Pre-employment Requirements

• Current Victorian driving licence.
• An employment-based Working with Children check.
• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.

You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.
