Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic – Keep Our Fleet Moving

Why you'll love the role and what you’ll be doing:

Working at Councils Operations Depot, 307-325 Waterdale Road, Bellfield you’ll help maintain a large variety of fleet vehicles, where you’ll have opportunities to enhance or update your skills. Working as a valued member of the fleet workshop team you’ll;

  • Service and maintain Councils fleet of vehicles and equipment in line with maintenance schedules, ensuring the fleet is compliant, roadworthy and fit for service
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults - both in the workshop and on-site.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle components with precision.
  • Undertake minor fabrication and welding duties
  • Ensure vehicle safety compliance by advising on operational standards and best practices.
  • Support and guide apprentices, sharing your expertise to develop the next generation of mechanics.

What we are looking for (skills, experience and certificates)

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology/Qualified Certificate of Proficiency Diesel Motor Mechanic - heavy stream diesel or equivalent
  • Extensive Post Qualification experience in Fleet Maintenance of a variety of Plant and Equipment typically used in Local Government including Waste Trucks and Sweepers.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in complex hydraulic and electrical fault diagnosis
  • A Demonstrated commitment to our values
  • Heavy rigid vehicle licence - desirable
  • Forklift Licence - desirable

Pre employment requirements:

  • Current motor vehicle licence
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police checks)
  • Functional Capacity Assessment

  • Salary range $90,411.65per annum plus super.
