We have a fantastic opportunity to build corporate reputation and increase community recognition of Council’s activities through strong brand positioning and strategic communications.

About us

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

About the role

This role will focus on social media and digital production and will work closely with another Communications Coordinator who focuses on media and written communications. Each Coordinator will easily be able to step into the other’s shoes when required and work together seamlessly on a day-to-day basis.

The position will:

  • Form transparent and trustworthy relationships with our community through social and traditional media.
  • Create healthy two-way conversations between Council and our community to inform and shape the services we provide.
  • Position Council positively and inform and update the community and stakeholders about Council news, services, programs, events and engagement opportunities.
  • Liaise with Council staff, members of the community and other key stakeholders to prepare timely and accurate social media, media and other public content.
  • Producing social media content for a range of platforms – with a strong focus on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn – to grow and nurture social communities.
  • Create compelling video content that can be used across various platforms.

Council has an ambitious program for 2024 and beyond, including the redevelopments of Hornsby Park and the Hornsby Town Centre Masterplan, which will provide diverse opportunities for proactive communications and content.

This is a rewarding role where you can make a positive difference in both Council and the local community.
