We have an incredibly rare and exciting opportunity for a Coordinator Development Services (Engineering) to join our Development and Planning team. This senior leadership role will lead and inspire our Development Engineering team, ensuring exceptional service delivery while driving strategic success across Council.

What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Executive Manager Development & Planning, this role is a crucial leadership position within the Development & Planning Branch and works alongside the Coordinator Development Services (Planning). The primary focus of the role is to lead a highly motivated, engaged, and focused team to facilitate the delivery of quality development outcomes across our region, in a way which fosters and strengthens a strong and positive culture across our team and our diverse portfolio of stakeholders.

Key Focus Areas include:

  • Senior leadership and management of the Development Engineering team, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, innovative practices, and a healthy and supportive workplace culture and environment.
  • Ownership and delivery of strategic initiatives for the Development & Planning Branch.
  • Meaningful and effective engagement with our diverse portfolio of stakeholders including internal stakeholders, the development industry, proponents, community members, elected members, other government organisations, and industry and community groups.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A relevant degree qualification in fields such as planning, development, or engineering.
  • A natural participative style leader who is a strategic, innovative thinker with proven leadership experience in development engineering or related areas, along with a strong understanding of local government operations and legislative frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to use tact and diplomacy whilst building and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse portfolio of internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of demonstrated knowledge of the development and planning process, including knowledge about development assessment processes.
  • Demonstrated project management experience involving complex and multi-disciplined teams.
  • Extensive experience in conflict resolution through effective negotiation, particularly in customer service delivery within technical disciplines.
