About the Role

The Business Development and Investment Department vision is to create thriving communities and business & industry precincts where people are proud to live, work, visit and invest.

Council is developing a new Economy and Place Strategy, informed by our Council Plan, which will guide the strategic focus of the organisation to implement appropriate actions that respond to clear economic and place goals and objectives. We are looking for someone who has the skills and experience to play an integral part in setting the foundation and implementing this strategy for our organisation and our community.

A newly created role has been established to attract and facilitate strategic investments that support local business attraction and growth, drives housing development, and enhances the vitality of key precincts, including the Dandenong, Springvale and Noble Park activity centres, Dandenong South State Significant Industrial Precinct and two National Employment and Innovation Clusters. Working in close collaboration with other units across Council, this team is responsible for attracting and facilitating appropriate investment opportunities.


About You

If your skills align with innovation, tackling complex and challenging projects, and deploying techniques for collaborative problem solving that develops opportunities to link economy and place, then this position may be a great career fit.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding and hold a Degree or Post Graduate Diploma qualification in a relevant area, which may include Economic Development, Social Sciences and/or Urban Planning along with substantial or significant experience in the field of the employee’s specialist expertise. Relevant skills, knowledge and experience essential.
