POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE

Key Internal Relationships: Works across the organisation on arts and
cultural proiects
Key External Relationships: Works with the community, government and
non- government agencies involved with arts
and cultural projects/events with particular
reference to creative industries , project
development and new arts networks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Support
•Provide specialised systems support to maintain effective communications
with the public in relation to cultural development, creative initiatives, public
art projects and City art collections.
•Research, receive; collate and format arts and cultural event information
and distribute to the public across e-mail, web-based and social media
platforms.

Create, facilitate and finalise cultural development projects in line with the aims and
objectives of the Creative Strategy 2020-2027, as directed by the Cultural Development
Coordinator.

Assist with the day to day implementation of the cultural development
portfolio as outlined in the organisation's related policies, strategies and
frameworks.
Assist in the review and updating of all work procedures as directed and
report on any system failures
Project Support
•Develop and maintain database systems and records of public art
infrastructure in the Blue Mountains LGA.
•Develop information to inform the community of the management of art and
cultural public art infrastructure, creative spaces and facilities and
development opportunities and provide advice to both internal and external
stakeholders.
•Support systems to facilitate and promote the
integration of public art, murals
and streeet art in public and commercial spaces and Council's capital works
programs.
•Provide administrative support and assistance for designated cultural projects.
•Plan, deliver and support new creative activities (workshops, markets, special
projects) in partnership with the Arts and Culture Services team and facilities.
Customer Service
Respond in a timely and courteous manner to enquiries, complaints and
requests in relation to arts and cultural activities and programs in accordance
with Blue Mountains City Council Customer Service Strategy.
Assist with internal and external enquiries relating to cultural events and
programs.
Other
Assist with other administrative projects as directed and provide event co-
ordination support for cultural projects.
Attend team and branch meetings as required.

Workplace Health &
Safety
Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but

are not limited to identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and
notifying your Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety
Representative); never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which
you do not have the experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and
training or where the correct equipment to carry out the task safely is not available;
always work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety instructions, where
applicable; use the work equipment supplied for the job, in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions), and any personal protective equipment, which the
Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety aware and report any actions

COMMUNICATION
This position is to effectively communicate across all levels of staff and external
stakeholders such as other government agencies and with the broader
community involved in cultural activity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are employed together with
effective confliction resolution and negotiations skills. All communication must be
accurate and executed in a professional and timely manner. Written
communication includes letter responses, memos, faxes, emails and other written
instructions. Good research skills are utilised to respond to customers, suppliers
and employees in a timely manner.
JUDGEMENT & PROBLEM SOLVING
The position carries out day to day administration of the cultural development
portfolio communications systems and requires well-developed judgement and
problem solving skills in dealing with specialised arts sectors and the general
public. The position makes decisions in relation to its work priorities within
agreed projects and guidelines. Judgement and problem solving are used to
initiate change and improve work arrangements and assess a number of options
for process improvement.
AUTHORITY
The position takes operational directions from the Manager - Cultural
Services. The position works alongside the Cultural Development Co-
ordinator. The position exercises initiative in the performance of duties
and works with limited supervision and ensures that all relevant
invoicing, fees receipting and reporting is undertaken in a timely
manner.

SKILL, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
Qualifications and/or experience in administration or project management
within the cultural sector.
Demonstrated understanding of cultural development principles and
practices within a local government environment.
Advanced use of relevant computer applications (Microsoft office
suite, databases and social media platforms ie Mailchimp and Facebook)
Excellent communication skills
Well-developed interpersonal skills that include the ability to work in a
team environment with diverse groups and ongoing change.
Proven commitment to serving all customers, including those internal to
the Group, other Council groups and those external to Council
Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and demonstrate
initiative within a team environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications and/or experience in administration or project
management within the cultural sector.
DESIRABLE
Current Class "C" NSW Driver Licence
