Council is looking for a Facilities Overseer who will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the operations of our facilities maintenance functions. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in maintaining our parks, gardens, cemeteries, pools, civic precinct, streets, public toilets, and community buildings.

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring effective and efficient facility maintenance operations while adhering to environmental, risk, quality, and work health safety requirements.
  • Planning and executing regular maintenance tasks for various facilities within the Council area.
  • Providing clear direction and guidance to staff, ensuring they comply with Council policies and procedures.
  • Managing budgets and expenditures within your work area.
  • Participating in after-hours and on-call roster and emergency call-outs when needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with work health and safety standards and Council policies.
  • Collaborating with relevant staff to organize works according to established programs.
  • Promoting effective teamwork and maintaining positive public and workplace relations.

Essential criteria for the role include:

  • Relevant building trade qualifications or TAFE Certificate Level 4 equivalent, or demonstrated minimum 4 year’s experience in carpentry, concreting and various maintenance and construction techniques.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Work Health & Safety (WorkCover) General Construction Induction Ticket
  • Understanding and commitment to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity and Work Health and Safety and ability to apply them in the work environment.
  • Experience in the supervision of staff and sub-contractors.
  • Experience in operation of office equipment and computer software
