Council is seeking a suitable candidate to assist with the presentation of its parks, open spaces, public domain and cemeteries. The position will undertake general maintenance duties to a high standard including mowing, brush cutting, weeding, planting, and litter collection. Operation of small plant and equipment including ride-on mowers, chainsaws, brush cutters will also be necessary to perform these duties. This position will be required to communicate effectively and politely with colleagues and members of the general public at all times. This is a seasonal contract with the possibility to extend.
The candidate will require the following:
• Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
• Demonstrated experience in the tasks required to maintain parks, open space, cemeteries and/or public domain areas
• Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment used for park maintenance.
• A proven motivation and work ethic to provide quality outcomes in a parks, open spaces, cemeteries and public domain settings.
• Ability to work within flexible starting and finishing times and to adapt to an ever-changing work environment.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Knowledge of and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety requirements and Equal Employment Opportunities.
• Horticultural training or experience
• Class LR/MR Driver’s License, current log book or willingness to obtain this license within a 6-12 month period.
• Experience in Local Government.
• Traffic Controllers Certification.
• Chainsaw Certificate (cross cutting/simple tree felling).
Remuneration: base salary commencing at $50,971 gross per annum
+ adverse working conditions $0.57 per hour
+ 11.5% superannuation
+ performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary (if eligible)
+ annual award increase
