The role

The Manager Operations leads and manages Council’s Waste, Works and Climate Change teams through:

  • Managing the effective and efficient delivery of waste management strategies, services and infrastructure
  • Ensuring efficient and effective planning, delivery, contract and project management of Council’s capital works and maintenance programs that are within the Operations team
  • Managing sustainability matters with a focus on climate change adaption and mitigation across Council and the wider community
  • Developing and managing the waste, works, and climate change team budget
  • Developing and maintaining the trust and confidence of staff, Councillors, the Mount Alexander Shire community and our partners
  • Interpreting and managing legislation and regulation requirements

As a member of the leadership team, you will work closely with other senior staff to create and maintain a culture that supports high levels of staff engagement and performance.

Our ideal candidate

We won’t settle until we find the right person for the role and our organisation, who will have:

  • Formal qualifications in a related discipline, and extensive experience in the area of waste and works services.
  • A high level of managerial experience and a proven track record as an effective leader.
  • Project management experience, from initiation through to implementation working to time and budget deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to work effectively in a complex, political environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and present to a variety of stakeholders.
