• Full-time Fixed Term Contract until August 2028
  • Band 6 Salary from $82,922 to $89,577 per annum, plus superannuation

A bit about the role 

The Municipal Resilience Officer will work with a wide range of key stakeholders, including Councils, emergency response agencies and the community to develop and deliver excellent Emergency Management outcomes for our community. 

Drawing on your Local Government and emergency management experience, you will establish and refine processes for Council’s emergency resilience, relief, and recovery activities.  

Participate in development and review of all emergency management plans relevant to Councils obligations.  Focus on educating the community to develop their sense of understanding and self-reliance in the face of emergencies. 

What you’ll deliver 

In collaboration with the emergency management team identify and implement training opportunities to enhance Council capabilities. Research and implementation of evidence-based community resilience  activities, aimed at educating the community in preparedness and recovery to a wide range of emergencies.  

Key role focus include: 

  • Community resilience, capacity development and inclusion.
  • Audit and resourcing, Emergency Relief Centres.
  • Emergency Management communication and messaging, internal and external.
  • Coordinate relevant emergency management registers. 
  • Undertake the role of On Call Deputy Municipal Recovery Manger or Municipal Emergency Management Officer.
  • Key administration tasks across the emergency management unit.
  • Internal emergency management exercise.
  • Training implementation for internal staff and lead as Crisisworks mentor for the identified roles.

Your excellent communication and engagement skills will see you building strong working relationships with Council staff, emergency service agencies, and the community.
