Full Time Permanent Position

Band 7 - Salary Range $106,626 to $119,182 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

Salary offered will depend on level of skills and experience.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the City Strategy department for a Senior Strategic Planner.  You will report to the Coordinator of Strategic Planning and play a pivotal role within the strategic planning team, offering expertise in strategic land use planning, project management, research, and community engagement and consultation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project manage and co-ordinate the review, monitoring and development of existing and new precinct structure plans, local policies and other strategic projects.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate the preparation of Planning Scheme amendments to the Melton Planning Scheme.
  • Participate in and lead cross-departmental project working groups, as required, providing strategic planning input.
  • Undertake community consultation activities to ensure the community have and awareness of, and opportunities to input in the preparation of strategic planning projects.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline with several years of subsequent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a broad range of strategic planning work including the preparation of Precinct Structure Plans and the development of planning policies.
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, preparing projects briefs and delivering high quality outputs.
  • Well-developed skills in negotiations and conflict resolution with an ability to deal with complex situations and present a positive Council image.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
