About the role

This position is a permanent full-time role in the Works team, based from the Moruya Depot. The successful candidate will thrive on working independently to operate various items of plant and attachment, with an emphasis on mechanical street sweeping operation and maintenance.

Your main duties will also include:

  • Actively undertaking physical labouring and other related construction or maintenance manual activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation and completion of a work project for construction works or maintenance activities, including emergency and Private Works Orders beyond planned scope of works.
  • Supporting other staff, contractors and subcontractors involved in construction and maintenance projects. Actively partake in work team performance reviews.
  • Assisting in providing customer service to the public in relation to construction and maintenance project elements you are involved in.
  • Actively participating in the continuous improvement of Council’s construction and maintenance activities.

Salary information

Total remuneration for the role is in the range $2,659.99 to $2,861.92 gross per fortnight consisting of:

  • $2,287.76 to $2,468.86 base salary
  • $97.88 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
  • $274.35 to $295.18 superannuation (at 11.5%)

Appointment to this position is subject to a medical clearance to verify that you are safely able to undertake the duties of the position.

About you

You will be an early riser and someone who is happy to work in isolation, without direct supervision. You will be fit, agile, hard-working and have experience with operating and maintaining a mechanical street sweeper. Your experience with trucks, rollers, ride on mowers, tractors and small plant will also set you up for success in this role. Your application will further demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in an operational work setting.
  • Willingness and ability to successfully undertake physical laboring tasks. (Example: squatting, lifting, walking, pressure washing, using a blower, changing brooms, repetitive work activities inside and outside of the vehicle).
  • Certificate III level qualifications in a related field or willingness to obtain. Willingness to complete additional recognised training opportunities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, with a supportive and cooperative approach to duties.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. Basic mathematics and computer skills including the use of mobile devices.
