Role Overview
As a P&C Trainee, you will support the People & Culture team in delivering key HR and culture-related initiatives that enhance the employee experience and contribute to a positive organisational culture. You will do a rotation across human resources, payroll and organisational development and learning.
What You’ll Do
- Provide customer service, fielding enquiries and requests from stakeholders, identifying their needs and addressing or referring promptly to determine and implement an appropriate course of action and provide solutions
- Perform operational activities and processes including drafting correspondence, recruitment and selection, maintenance of position descriptions and labour establishment, collection and analysis of data to contribute to achievement of service delivery objectives
- Recommend or implement process improvement actions within scope of services to increase operational efficiency and deliver improved services
- Contribute to research and analysis for the business unit to present information that supports and contributes to business decision making and effective system utilisation
- Manage and maintain records and information management systems underpinning service delivery to ensure the accuracy and currency of data and systems used
- Assist with the implementation of key project deliverables in accordance with the workforce strategy and associated department strategies.
- Support management of Councils' programs for trainees, apprentices, graduates, cadets and work experience
What We’re Looking For
- Current Year 12 Student, recent school leaver, or early career professional
- A genuine interest in human resources, employee engagement, and organisational culture.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage with people at all levels.
- A team-oriented attitude and the ability to collaborate with others to achieve goals.
- A high level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- A proactive approach to learning and a desire to grow within the People & Culture field.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office), with the ability to learn HR software and tools quickly.
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, or administration (desirable but not required).
About the Traineeship
This traineeship is part of the Certificate IV in Human Resources, delivered through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study over a 12-month period. The course will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to excel in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, training, performance management, and more.
