THE POSITION:

Council is currently recruiting a Governance Officer in the Governance and Legal Division. This role would suit someone with superior administration skills seeking a role with variety. 

The role is responsible for a range of administrative services to assist the Governance & Legal Division in its daily operations. In particular, taking minutes at Council and committee meetings, compiling and distributing meeting agendas, minutes and actions, maintaining corporate registers, delivering user training on the business paper system including user acceptance testing and providing information to customers.

ESSENTIAL: 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualification or experience in a governance role
  • Ability to record meeting notes or minutes
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to exercise initiative, prioritise, meet deadlines and work autonomously
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to work with a range of electronic office programs
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Availability to attend out of hours meetings, as required

DESIRABLE:

  • Sound working knowledge of meeting practice and protocols in local government
  • Ability to work with various legislation
  • Demonstrated ability in preparing accurate, high quality business papers
  • Proficiency using MS Office software at an intermediate level
  • Previous experience in the use of Objective and/or InfoCouncil systems

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 4, salary range is $75,390 pa with progression to $79,201 pa on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $88,308 pa
