Our Key Venues section oversees all of our aquatic and leisure centres. We deliver first-class activity and program choice, we promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and leisure. Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope is an award-winning multi-purpose facility that offers high-quality programs and services. It includes an indoor aquatic centre with 25 metre 10-lane lap pool, wave pool, program pool, a 4-court stadium and 16-court tennis complex as well as a health and fitness centre, crèche and function room facilities. 

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our Key Venues team as an Activity Officer (Duty Manager) on a permanent, full-time basis. If you have a Pool Lifeguard Certificate, aquatic and leisure industry experience, good time management and leadership skills then this is the role for you!

Position purpose: 

  • effective deployment and use of resources including organisation of duty rosters
  • organise available resources on a duty basis, ensuring the delivery of a safe, enjoyable and positive environment for all visitors and staff
  • ensure within the scope of the position that WHS and pool supervision standards for the operation of public swimming pools, building compliance are water quality are observed and actioned
  • provide regular feedback and performance information to senior personnel for all shift staff
  • supervise and ensure that excellent levels of lifeguarding are maintained, consistent to centre protocol and always with due regard to the safety of customers and staff.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate or similar standard
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate and Oxygen Equipment
  • Experience in a similar environment
  • Current class C driver's licence
  • Current Working With Children Check.

Desirable:

  • TAFE Certificate of Attainment (Pool Operations)
  • Experience in managing time effectively
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations Activity Officer (Duty Manager)
  • Experience and knowledge of the operation and aquatic plant and equipment and other resources associated with the provision of recreation facilities, programmes and events
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Experience in the shift coordination of an aquatic/leisure centre
  • Experience in working within a team environment and as a ‘self-starter’
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,361.20 per week plus an additional 12.25% in accordance with Council's flexibility agreement
  • 114 hours over a 3-week rotational roster
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
