About the opportunity

We have casual positions for skilled and enthusiastic team members at the Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC). Your primary responsibilities will include facilitating the transition of all animals into and out of BARC, managing associated paperwork, and providing excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will help maintain high standards of animal housing presentation and welfare within BARC. Shifts will be scheduled primarily on weekends, with some availability required during the week.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications in an appropriate field
  • Demonstrated customer service experience or administration experience with both telephone and face to face enquiries in a fast paced and high-volume area
  • Demonstrated high level of experience in handling and working with companion animals
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Experience in PC applications
  • Current class C driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • Sound knowledge of all relevant Acts, Regulations, Guidelines of the Companion Animals Act 1998
  • Authority to implant microchips
  • Ability to drive a manual vehicle.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • An hourly rate applies at $36.3203 (Grade 5, entry level) plus 25% casual loading and penalty rates apply for weekend shifts.
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
