Fairfield City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Natural Resources Management! This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about bush regeneration and creek cleaning.

Role Overview

As an Apprentice Natural Resources Management, you will assist in the delivery of Council’s natural resources education activities for the general public, community groups and schools, involving presentations, and information displays. This apprenticeship will set you up for a career in the natural resources management industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the implementation of Councils Bush regeneration program, Creek Clean/ GPT Maintenance Program, and feral animal control program.
  • Assist in the delivery of Natural Resources events such as National Tree Day.
  • Assist in the delivery of environmental education activities and help deliver councils Environmental Volunteer Program.
  • Assist in the implementation of Natural Resources projects.

What We’re Looking For

  • Successful completion of Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent
  • Class C Driver’s licence
  • A strong interest in environmental conservation, sustainability, and natural resource management.
  • Physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating on projects in the field and office.
  • Organized and proactive, with an ability to manage tasks and projects efficiently.
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Basic communication skills and ability to follow instructions in a practical, hands-on environment.

About the Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is part of the Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, delivered through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study over a 24-month period. The course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills needed for a career in environmental and natural resources management.
